Realistic Traffic Laws Will Help Swindon
say Parliamentary Hopefuls

Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland, the Conservative Parliamentary spokesmen for the North and South Swindon constituencies, have welcomed the Conservative Party's plans to increase motorway speed limits, review speed cameras and allow more 20mph limits in school areas. Justin and Robert were endorsing the policy announcement made by Damien Green MP, the Conservative?s national shadow Transport minister.
"Swindon's economic success is based on our good road access to local employers and the rest of the country", said Justin, North Swindon Conservative's Parliamentary spokesman. "For too long the Labour Government has seen the motorist either as some kind of enemy, or as a bottomless source of cash to bail out the Chancellor. The Conservative Party wants a common sense approach that recognises the benefits that better use of our roads will bring."
Robert, his South Swindon colleague added, "No one disputes that speed cameras, at the right places, can reduce accidents. Unfortunately, the present Government has used them in such a way that it has destroyed public confidence. The next Conservative Government will give police and not local councils power over where they are sited so there can be no doubt they are installed to save lives and not just to raise cash."
Justin and Robert will be campaigning on the issue of a fair deal for Swindon's motorists in the run up to the next election.
